Web Page Titles Are a Key Part of Search Engine Optimization

When creating your web site you want to make sure that every part of your web page is optimized. Web page optimization includes keyword ratio, proper use of meta tags, and optimizing the titles of each web page.

Many people do not take the time to optimize each web page. If you have a site with 200 web pages, then you should try to have 200 different titles, one for each page. The title to be optimized falls between the tags ... . This tag gives the search engine information on how to label your web page in their search results.

When anyone performs a search in a search engine, the search results page will have a list of titles that will tell a visitor if the web page has the information that they're looking for.

You want to have a descriptive title with relevant keywords that will let the searcher and search engine know what your page is about. The benefit of this is getting a higher listing in the search engine which leads to getting more visitors toy your site.

Make sure that the keywords that you want your web page to be optimized for are right in the beginning of the title. For instance, if you have a web site on roses and one of your pages is optimized for the phrase “yellow roses,” then start out your title with this phrase. You might want to write: Yellow Roses: Detailed Information on Yellow Roses.

Another tip for optimizing your web pages is not to make your titles too long. You want to keep your titles as short as possible, so that they are concise. Most SEO’s try not to exceed more than 150 characters.

As with all optimization, do your research and check to see what is working and what is not. In a few months, you will be able to tell which titles have been effective as a result of your changes.
