Use RSS Feeds to Add Content to Your Web Site

As a web designer you know it can be difficult at times or extremely time consuming to create content for your website. Even worse, is that major search engines consistently rank web sites with little or no content, lower on their search result pages or not at all.

What's a web designer to do for fast and easy content? Many have started to use RSS feeds.

RSS stands for really simple syndication. It is a way for your website to deliver content from another, making it available to your visitors.

For a web designer with a little knowledge of writing programming code it's fairly simple to set up. The best part about RSS is that in most cases it is free to use but does require the links to be active links and the source of the feed to be shown.

Web sites such as Yahoo, CNN and USA Today offer RSS feeds but have restrictions for using them. For instance, USA Today does not allow its RSS feeds to be seen on commercial sites. If you have Google Adsense or are selling a product you would be restricted from using their feed.

Another important thing to consider when using RSS feeds for web site content is the type of code used to make the feed appear on your site. For instance search engine spiders whose job it is to search and index new pages can not read java script. Java script is widely used in RSS feeds.

If you would like content that will be able to be seen by both the web surfer and to search engine spiders, you will need to have RSS feeds in php code.

If you are interested in more information on RSS feeds and ways to easily install them, just do a quick search on RSS feeds in your favorite search engine and you'll be sure to see hundreds of pages on the best ways to install and use RSS.
