Most web marketers promote affiliates products from their own web site, but you can grab more traffic to promote your affiliate products by placing advertisements in Google Adwords.

For instance if you're an affiliate for a car polish product and you have a car related web site you most likely would put a link to that product on that site. In addition to that you can place an advertisement for the car polish on Google Adwords.
People who search for the keywords car polish will have the chance to see your advertisement in Google's search result pages and hopefully click your ad and buy from your affiliate link. You don’t need to have the product in inventory, or worry about shipping, you just collect your part of the profit.
This strategy may not be good for every type of product, but it can be useful on products where the profit is high enough. If you can make $10 to $15 per sale and one advertisement only costs you 10 cents, then it seems like a good proposition that one person in 100 would not only be interested in the product you are selling, but purchase it as well.
As you can see, there are multiple of ways for web site owners to make money as affiliates.
